The Asshole Cycle.

Why do we insist on going back to the things (and people for that matter) that are absolutely no good for us? Are we too forgiving or just idiots? These people have shown us time and time again that they're going to hurt us and that nothing is going to change... but somehow we find ourselves compromising other things, people, and relationships in our lives for them. WHY? And I understand it's just so tempting when you're alone in your corner of the world but what makes today different than the day two weeks ago, three months ago, a year ago, that they consciously fucked us over? There is no difference. Unless the second coming has occurred and by some miracle they've managed to get their act together, there is no difference. It's like we thrive on the disappointment. We thrive on the cycle of hope that they've changed, anger when they haven't, disappointment when we realize they never will. No matter how many ultimatums you give, no matter how many chances, no matter how many opportunities... If someone doesn't want to change for themselves, they're sure as hell not going to change for you.
